Gas tank connections. Where does it go?
1 Attachment(s)
Hey, So i was wondering why my tank was leaking with a full tank of gas.
And yes, it leaked out almost the full tank until I got back to my garage and put a container under my gas tank. But wondering where this connects to. At the moment, I just plugged it with a little rubber cover so nothing leaks. Where does it go? and why? its a little frustrating not knowing Thanks, Tom |
That would be the overflow if I'm not mistaken. The other is a vent. They go down below the frame. They don't connect to anything. However you shouldn't be losing all your gas out of it

Over flow from gas fill area run a line down and tie off behind rear brake
Other one is the tank breather tube that prevents vacuum building in the tank |
ok, so i know the bigger one from the petcock goes to the carbs, then the other small one goes to the first carb correct? yea for some reason gas drips through there i circled when i fill it up fully... its weird. Hopefully I will not need a new tank. Would plugging it up affect flow of gas to the carbs?

plugging the big one no , plug the little one and the tank will be vac locked no gas to
carbs |
awesome, i covered up the big one with a little rubber cap/cover. and the small one is run down with a rubber hose.
thanks man |
If fuel is coming out the overflow, maybe you don't have a good seal between the gas cap and tank. If you cap it, when it rains or you wash your bike I would think the water might get into the tank.

The large one should only leak when your totally full or leaning. Its for when you overfill.

what do you mean? ill check the gas cap tommrow, as of now i finally got it running thankfully. rode around a little bit but still every so once in a while if i punch it it bogs at high rpms, i did it in first gear it did not bog but then in 2nd in did, but i did it again in 1st gear and it did bog a little bit. like as if its losing power at high rpms. im thinking vance and hines power pak or carb clean most likely
