Default Gas is leaking and it wont start.. Help

OK so i just got my first bike and i don't know much about these things. I was told when inquiring about buying it it was running and when i got there he went to warm it up and it would not start and is started leaking fuel. It appears to be flowing from a black plastic box that's rights up close to the air filter. Can any one give me any direction on how to get this thing running.
Thanks

First off I hope he gave you a smoking deal then Second IM guessing thats the emission box you speak of. First find the source of the leak and start from there. The 3 things to check for u to get her started is AIR, GAS, and Spark. Make sure your air box is on right as well as carb boots secured proper. Check to see that your petcock is functioning right (probably whats leaking ?) and it wouldnt hurt to just throw new sparks in there. before you completely install them though, test your coils. PS I would get ride of that whole emissions deal. thats what I did

Hey thank for the reply, so what is the petcock, is it part of the emissions system and if i get rid of it what would be the benefits of doing so. I'm pretty sure i got a sweet deal on it, I picked it up for 1000 bucks so i was pretty happy. When i got it home i actually did get it running, i jump started it and it did fire up and i rode but it was spewing a trail of gas and running pretty rough witch doesn't surprise me.

the petcock is wants connected to the bottom of fuel tank. ON the f2 its vacuumed controlled. WHich means. No gas will release untill the cylinder its connected to sucks on the vacuum line, opening it up and delivering gas to your carbs. and yah dont remove it . Okey So despite the gas leak.. if it started up with a jump it could be a battery issue . and a word to the wise. I wouldnt jump it from a car. Unless the cars turned off. So do this man. Figure out exactly where that gas is leaking from. Then go from there

Hey thanks, Its going to be real nice when it gets its new paint job but that wont be till the winter. Back to the battery ya the battery was dead but is all charged now so that's good to go. Its funny u mention that though because when looking at the bike initially the guy jumped it with his truck running, what can happen when this happens?
