Default Fuel valve blocked??

Hi guys, hope you can answer this one for me as i,m a bit puzzled. I suspected no fuel was getting to my 94 F2 so i turned the valve to off, removed the 2 pipes attatched to the valve (the small vacume one from no 1 carb and the larger main pipe) There was plenty of fuel in the tank, well past reserve, anyway i turned the valve to the on position expecting the fuel to pour out , and nothing?? so i turned it to reserve, still nothing?? is this meant to happen? do i have a fault with the fuel tap?? I thought it was gravity fed or does it work with a vaccume? Baffled???

In the ON position, fuel will flow through the bigger hose only when there is vacuum on the small hose that is connected to carb#1. You can unplug the hose from carb#1 and suck on it. If the petcock is operating properly, the vacuum you create will allow fuel to flow out of the bigger hose, into the carbs.

thanks for the answer, did that and thats what happens previously so it is working properly. I seem to have a fuel delivery prob at carbs, maybe i should check pipe connections are sound and there are no air leaks at the air filter etc.

Did you think fuel isn't going through because you can't start the bike? Are the carbs clean and is the choke working properly? I would be looking there first.

Yeah, let's start with what brought you to suspect there was an issue, and we'll work from there.
