Default Front stands

I bought a front fork stand for my f3. It is the "new" style of using two rubber coated pins to tilt into position to hit the back of the fork leg and have the other pin under the fork tube bottom. I bought it because the F3 has the snorkel in the way of the hole in the t-stem stand that I use on my other bike, an f2.

Long story short, I tried to lever the front end of the bike up and each time the bottom pin would slide almost out before even getting the bike all the way up. No way I was going to trust holding the bike up, much less actually taking the wheel off.

Can't seem to find any of the single pin stands that locate in the access hole in the bottom of the fork leg any more. Any one use this style of stand or know where I can get the old style stand?

It just seems weird that this new style of stand is so popular now. Could it be that it works with upside down forks?

I suppose I could cut the snorkel and make it removable, yet fasten it back in place securely.

Question: is the bike on a rear stand before you try to lever it up on the front stand?

Does it work on the F2. I use one of those stands with my f2, and yes it wants to slip so to speak. When I use the stand the rear pins catch on the fork drain bolt/plugs almost kind of. It took some practice but I can get the front pin to pretty much be in the middle of the fork on the bottom. Also I only use the front stand when the rear is also supported. Its one of the "glossy red ebay stands".

Thanks everyone. I raised it on the front stand first, never got around to using the rear stand. Sounds like one needs to have it up on the rear stand first and be reeaaallllll careful. May go back to shop and buy one again. I returned the first one. Maybe it will still be on sale.

Never lift a bike on a front stand without it being on a rear stand first. The rear doesn't just provide stability. It forces the forks upright and level.

I actually feel less comfortable raising and lowering the rear.

A demo video. Starts with showing the lift via triple tree. But then he demonstrates lifting by the forks.

You'll see he's not super cautious about doing it either
