I got mine off fairly easily, didn't remove the tire. There are 4 bolts holding it.... two of em are kinda hidden behind the forks. I slid it up the forks untill it was almost touching the upper fairing, then it pulled right out (forward).

 

I got it out, I had to squeeze the back section of it together big time to the point i thought it was going to break and then yank like crazy to get it to come up and then out. Not sure its going back in that way once its painted....
