faster 1/4 mile
So I went to the strip this weekend with some friends.Took my 91 f2 with 17,000 miles. Has a slip on yoshi and possibly jets? Just bought it a little more than a month ago.Ran a 11.853 at I think 116mph. I want to try and get into the low elevens or high tens if possible. Maybe a sprocket change? When I crossed the line i was in 4th gear running about 12000 rpms. Maybe gear it down a little and be able to get into 5th gear before the strip ends? What about p.p. the head and do a valve job? I have the machinery at school to do valve jobs and porting and pollishing? What kind of difference would that make? Any suggestions on quicker times? Maybe I should look into making the bike weigh less? Any suggestions would be great.

RE: faster 1/4 mile
Power commanders are only for FI bikes. So you have to focus on getting the jetting on your bike perfect. Why not worry about your technique first. Im sure you can drop a few tenths if you perfect your technique. Whats your reaction time, 60ft, etc? How does the bike feel when the carbs are transitioning from the needles to mains? Whats your tire pressure and what tires are you running?

OK. So I'll forget the idea of the programmer. How hard is a jet kit to install and how much will it cost me to get ahold of one. Yeah I think technique is a good step too. What rpm does my engine build the most hp at? I just went till it almost redlined to shift. My r/t wasnt that great, my best time was .285 sec. Here are all times and speeds for my best1/4 milethisweekend below this post. The bike is really sluggish until around 7 grand or so, but really picks up around 9 grand. I ran a brand new set of regular radial tires. Nothing special about them and just ran whatever pressure was in them when I got there. What pressure should I run for a street radial?

A jet kit will help you a lot. Look around for a Dynojet stage 1 jet kit. You can drop at least a tenth off your 60'. Just look for some lowering straps to keep the front end compressed. Stiffen the compression on the rear and you'll be able to launch at a higher RPM. If you're really into drag racing, then a set of swingarm extensions will help reduce wheelies too. Shinko tires are a popular choice in my area. REAL sticky. Make sure you're fully tucked behind your windscreen. Also, some drag racers on here believe that an ignition advancer helps out the low end. However, road racers say that its all in your head. Its only $50 for the advancer so its not much to lose if it doesnt work out.
