F3 Shock in the F2 (yet again)
Yep, I know it has already been discussed so I only want the people that HAVE done this swap to post up.
I understand the F3 shock will lower the F21" in the rear, and I dont want that for obvious reasons.
So, who has done this swap and how did you make it so there is no loss in ride height? If anything, I would prefer the rear end higher than stock.
Modern bikes have an insanely high tail end for quicker turn-in (less effort into turning)
So, post up what you did and how to do it!
Thanks muchly.
P.S. I've already purchased my F3 rear shock from a 98.

RE: F3 Shock in the F2 (yet again)
The only way to use an F3 shock and keep the current ride height would be to go with a SHORTER dogbone and the F3 shock. A shorter dogbone is something that you would have to have custom made, because I have never seen one. Now, I would just put an F4i shock in there, that shock will RAISE the height of your tail and give you the newer better shock that you want. I just bought an F4i shock for my bike, I will let you know what happens when I put it in.

Interesting. I thought the F4 shock would fit, but not the F4i. Or is it teh RR won't fit but the F4i will?
I bought an F4 shock from a member here and when he shipped it to me the frigging hose and reservoir had been removed. i'm still pissed about that one.[:@]

F4 shock is out of the question, it's yellow and I hate yellow [:'(]Aside from that, I've already got my F3 shock with only 5,000 km's on it (brand spankin new) and I got it for $25 so I cant complain.
I figured I would have to get a shorter dogbone, I'm a welder by trade so I could probably cut mine down and weld it back together but I'll have to see what it's made of. I'm assuming it's cast aluminum.
Can anybody tell me how long the F3 dogbone is in comparison to the F2. Maybe I should just get an F4 dogbone?
I could pretty much take it out of any bike, so long as it's the right length.

well im guessing that there may be different ones for each year... I have 2 f2 shocks and a f3 shock and the f3 shock is definetly a different length.. the 91-93 non external resevoir shock and the 94 external resevoir shock are the same length.. Do you have any pics of the new and old shock?

my 94 shock has a black spring.. most of the ones I have seen have black springs... I just found that there are multiple f3 rear shocks. the 95 and 96 shocks are the same as the 94 .. the 96/97 shocks are different.. I am guessing that this is why we keep havng this discussion..
