Default F3 engine in F2 Frame

I know the F-3 upgraded to a wider rear rim, better rear shock, Ram air with bigger carbs....but does anyone know if a 98 F3 motor will bolt into a F2 frame. Seems like a no brainer... but some of you guys know ALL the details. I have access to a F2 chassis, but have an extra 98 motor ready to transplant. Is there something I should be aware of??? Thanking you in advance!

pretty sure it will bolt right up but you will need to use the f2 carbs and will have an unused plug for the speedo on the motor

Default F3 engine into F2 frame

Thanks for a quick response, but why the F2 carbs? That was one of the nice improvements in the F-3. Clearance Problems? My plan is to do the F4i body conversion so I'm not concerned with speedo problems.Thanx!

NY, are you talking about the cdi box? i thought it was pretty much a straight swap. i know the f3 has the ram air and a fuel pump. not too sure about the difference in the carbs. id like to do the f4i swap too. it looks really good when done right.

you can put an f3 engine into an f2 frame. the only thing you will have to do is pound in or cut out a small spot on the left side of the frame to fit the carbs.

The f3 carbs have a tps, I wouldn't recommend taking this sensor off.

There are many differences but as far as just putting the motor on the frame and starting it thats the only thing you will have to do.

The f3 motor is a direct swap. Use the F2 carbs and everything else. The only issues are that the f3 engine has an extra outlet at the water pump (that can be blanked - ie use a hose sealed at one end) and the gear shift needs to go "uspide down" meaning you'll need to cut a tiny little bit of your fairing off to accomodate the gear shift rod being rotated 180 degrees.

It's a really easy swap. I've done it.

My CBR is a 1991 F2 with a 98 engine. Or was till I crashed it. :-/

cheers
pat
