F2 some assembly required

Hi all.

A few days ago I acquired a 1993 CBR600F2 along with keys and the ownership for free. I hope to piece it back together over the winter and have it on the road for next summer.

Looks like a fun project. Good luck.

FYI, that looks more like an F3 than an F2 though.
Gauges, front rim, radiator, air filter/intake and bodywork are all F3 for sure.
Looks like the motor without the head is an F3. The other motor is an F2.
The are similar, but not identical. Carbs are different (F3 has ram air, F2 did not).

Hmmm interesting. Possibly a previous owner did some modifications? This is the first CBR I own, so I’ll have a bit of research to do.

More likely the previous owner didn't know what he bought. And then sold it as what he was told.
With that many F3 parts I can see pics, it's most likely an F3. Then he bough another F2 motor thinking he had an F2.

Look on the frame right side just behind the steering head, should be a vin sticker with the year on it.
93-94 were F2, 95-96 were F3.

there was no vin sticker on the frame but I did find the vin number stamped on the frame. Looked it up and came back as a 1993. Vin number matches the ownership also.
I grabbed the 2 engine serial numbers, both of them came from a 1993 as well.

Maybe the bike was modified to accept the different plastics. I’ll see more once I get it pieced back together.

Well you got a mix of parts either way.
And with the F3 gauges and F2 engine, you won't have a working speedometer.

Good luck, post pic and keep us up to date on how it's going.

oh wow. lucky you! Jealy! So need those fearings!

I threw a couple pieces together just to see about color. The frame needs a good cleaning and paint. Should I leave the frame silver or go black?
I like the orange and will most likely need to replace some if not all the plastics. I was thinking of doing it up similar to a Repsol scheme.

thoughts?

If you like the orange, then I always thought the 2000 F4 looked really cool in orange/black.

If you think you might be replacing the fearings would you consider selling me your upper left fearing and/or the front cowl?
