Engine died
 

Engine died - heavy traffic - didn't overheat - a lot of idle time though - still sitting overin the Old City - possibly gas, but I doubt it - no weird noises - restarts but dies right away... on my way back with gas tank key (now I know to carry it with me, though it may not be the problem)


any ideas...

If there werent any weird noises id say its either gas or the voltage regulator (located on subframe) my bike was dying while i was riding it...and wouldnt restart unless jumped or put on a charger...so i thought it was the battery....that didnt solve it...checked out the voltage regulator/recitifier whatever you want to call it...the little plastic thing that plugs in was burnt to a crisp...looked like a torched marshmallow...so i just cleaned it all out and stipped the wires and got one of those assorted pin connector boxs from autozone for like 3 bucks...problem solved

Gentlemen, I'm embarassed to tell you...


I ran out of gas. Guess I've been riding on the reserve side since I put gas in it last week. Not a drop left in the tank - didn't even smell like gas when I opened it (after having to retrieve my gas tank key from back atmy house).

Learned a few lessons today.

But a happy ending, at least!:D

haha no worries.....i ran out of gas on my bike about 6 times when i first got it....wish somebody makes a reliable gas guage for bikes

Every time I fill up I reset my trip odometer. That way I always know roughly how many more miles I have before I hit reserve or come close to running out.

Everytime before each trip I check if I have a full tank or atleast half. If its below half, I fill her up. Doesn't cost that much. =P

you get pretty low around 130 miles. :)

130? heck I get 150-160 without a problem.

im just going off what the previous owner told me, he seemed like a smart guy, ill try and push my luck, see if i can get 150 :)
