Default EAMoto's 1994 CBR F2 Build

I have been negotiating with a buddy for a while on picking this bike up. He raced it in WERA vintage 600s and always kept good care of it. He has been sitting in his garage for a while and I decided to take it on as a custom build for the street.

Here's how it sat when I got it home:

we will start on the mechanical side with checking the engine compression and valves/carbs. The Race Tech front suspension and Fox rear will stay on. The D&D will go for a short cut style custom exhaust.

The front stay is being replaced with a straight one and the front end will be a fun project doing some wiring magic with taking the custom kill switch, tachometer, and canabilized triple to a nice clean look with straight bars.

I spent a lot of time on the project today, The first thing we did was change the the oil and drain the radiator. The bike sat for a long time so the oil has gas all in it from the run thru. The coolant was very nasty brown and sluggish.

Next I pulled the radiator off and the throttle body to drain and start on the carbs. The manifold clamps were completely jammed up so we had to cut off 2 of them to remove it...definitely nasty inside...

Now its time to pull the float bowls and see what kind of job we have in front of us... The floats were good but the bowls were completely green..

We threw some new oil in her and new NGKs to do the compression testing..

Compression Check went well, we were all within 5% @ 175-180psi

It's a great rear shock and has to stay on sorry, not an area I want to go back to stock on. If I decide to throw a TT on it I'll hit you up though.

Those are some really awesome shots of the tear down process - a few of these shots are helpful for others undergoing the same process of rebuilding/reviving an old F2.

You should do a how to on the front shocks if you get the chance!

We should be doing those on Saturday, I'll see if I can do a good step by step with photos and still be productive with time...
