Default Do you have measurements for the front cam chain guide sleeve?

Hey guys,

I bought a basket case CBR and I'd like to reassemble it this weekend. As far as I can tell, this one part is the only thing that's keeping me from having a running engine. This would be a SIMPLE part to make on my lathe. The problem is that Bike Bandit isn't able to get parts here by the weekend.

If anyone has this part available to measure, I would really appreciate the dimensions. I would need: overall sleeve length, flange diameter, main diameter, and flange length. Inner diameter I will drill to just barely fit an M8 bolt. If possible the dimensions should be to a thousandths of an inch.

Also -- does the flange go inside towards the cylinders or the other way around?

Thanks!

.676"

.080"

.625"

.470"

Internal is a centered clearance for the bolt. I think it's M8. No sweat on a lathe fo' sho'.

Flange goes on the inside. Fits neatly into the counterbore in the "back side" (toward the block) of the tan cam chain guide.

Jimmy, you have been solely responsible for making sure I have all the information I need. Thank you! The mic dimensions are great -- accuracy guaranteed. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it!

That's what closet mechanical engineers are for!

I happen to be an "in-training" mechanical engineer, which maybe explains our informative back-and-forths. I also happen to have a very understanding landlord, who lets me keep my mill & lathe in the basement, and rebuild basket cases in the garage... !

I'm nearly as lucky. The people I rent from let me do almost whatever. I have a dirt bike, a F3 motor, and the rest of my CBR parts bike in the basement, and a row of motorcycles in the garage. I've been looking for lathes, but I can't find much for less than $1200 around here, which is too much until I finish my degree and get a job... maybe.
