Cursed CBR 600 F2/Life Story

I have a very interesting and wild story to tell you F2 owners on how I ended up back on this forum... My great motorcycle journey in just two years

A couple days ago, my father was cleaning out the shed and found my old tail fairing covered in dust. He didn't want to throw it away so he called me up. I told him to hold on to it for me and later that day, I stopped by to pick it up...

Wow, right? It sure did bring back memories! This was my FIRST motorcycle! I owned it during high school and boy did I feel like the ultimate bad @$$ :icon_headbang:. I traded my 110cc pocket bike for this 1992 CBR 600 F2 in Oakland. It was trashed in the previous owners sketchy looking backyard for almost 10+ years. I repaired EVERYTHING to get this baby back on the road. It took a lot of courage to get this thing running. Here is what it looked like when I first purchased it.....

After some time, I sourced used parts off of craigslist and it turned into this...

Then after some thinking, I decided to give it a 1000RR facelift....

Looks great!

Then I posted it on Craigslist for $2500 with 55k miles in the town that I bought it from. A knucklehead bought it without even questioning my price. He handed me $2500 CASH and my jaw dropped... Who in the world would pay $2500 for this??? I told him that this is NOT a 1000RR, yet he insisted.... Oh well :D

Then I used my money to buy a REAL CBR600RR ($2300). The bike that I wanted!

Rebuilt the bike, joined 600RR.net and disappeared off of this forum.

When I first purchased the CBR600RR...

Added my own unique touch and....

Then, I traded my beloved 2006 CBR600RR for a Ducati 748... Best decision in my motorcycling hobby thus far... I love it. I did minor engine repairs to it and all the maintenance required to get it in tip top shape! Ducati's are money pits without a doubt! But I learned how to work on them myself!

Then 2.5 years later... my old CBR 600 F2 shows up on craigslist! :icon_omg:

I immediately bought it! Look closely at the craigslist post. The post was only 15 hours old after I purchased it. What's crazy was that my friend wanted a 600 F2 and we hopped on Craigslist together only to find my bike... I brought a car battery and jump started it on the spot and she fired right up! The carb rebuild I performed 2.5 years ago paid off!

Now it rests in my stable of bikes ready to be revived again!

I hope you all enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you all! I plan on doing a 2007 CBR1000RR facelift this time. :icon_beerchug:

That is an awesome story. I wonder what happened to your original 1000rr repsol 'facelift'. Keep us updated on progress!

Ah, the circle of motorcycle life. That bike will haunt you forever.

Good to see you back.
I have to ask, why stop CBRF cause you bought a 600rr? Or the Duc? We are a forum full of motorcycle guys (and girls), not just CBR owners. Most don't care what you ride, if you ride at all, or have a Harley. :) There are many members that have long since parted with their CBRs but still value the "friends" they have made here.

I dig what you did with the RR. I was considering going that route with the Harley someday.
