Default Clutch, drain oil or no?

Changing the fibers and springs in the old clutch today.

Do you need to drain the oil, or simply lean the bike over on the kickstand?

hmmm thats a good question....you know i think you could prolly just tilt it....because there isnt going to be a huge amount of oil sitting in there....but i guess if you start to remove it and oil starts pouring out...you should prolly drain it lol

I've only pulled a clutch twice, but it seems to me that if you overfilled the oil (by a lot) and pop the clutch cover off, you're going to have a big mess if you don't drain the oil.

Also, you might want to do some degreasing in the clutch area? (I dunno, maybe not) If that's the case, you would have to drain the oil.

What do you mean by degreasing? Cleaning sludge off?

Yes... if there is any (which there just as well may not).

For the record, you need to drain the oil.

Draining the oil isn't hard ... so why not just do it? I figured you'd have to drain the oil...

Some bikes lean over enough that the oil sits low enough in the pan that you dont have to drain it to remove the crank cover.

It's a hassle to find something clean to store the oil in, and to have to clean the funnel / catch pan afterwards.

Shaving your face every morning isn't hard either, just annoying and time consuming!

Well the new clutch pack and springs are in, and she's tighter than a 12 year old.

No more herky-jerky funky chicken from a stop, just smoooooooth.
