Default Chinese repop front fender?

I've been in the process of painting up a spare tank and some tail fairings I've got for my F2, and I need a new F3 fender to paint. Right now, everything is more than I'd like to spend, espeically cause I'm going to be painting it anyways. However, there are these repro Chinese fenders on ebay for $60 shipped, and they're pretty tempting. I wanted to ask first though if they actually fit and don't shred themselves immediately. Anyone have any experience with them?

Well I pulled the trigger anyways, you can't beat $60 shipped. It's going to be a painter, so I'm not too horribly concerned with quality, but I'll let you know how it fits up.

How did you get on? Did the F3 fender fit your F2 and everything line up ok? - was it a straight forward swap?

It should fit - F2 & f3 run same size front tire, and have identical lower fork legs - everything mounts exactly the same, just the F3 fender is styled a little different.

I don't have the fender, it's shipping from china so it should be another week or three. I'll let you know when it comes.

I've got an F3 front end on my F2, so it should fit great if it's a good reproduction. I have an F2 fender on mine with tape over the front. The guy I bought it from said he put an F2 fender on his wife's F3 front ended F2 with the 2 bolts that line up and it was snug enough of a fit to work when we put it on my bike. Within 3 days, it caught some air and dug into the front tire. The tire won, and there was a big melted hole in the front of it. It still works, but since I'm painting my bike I want a nice fender to start with, and I'm going to fit an F3 fender. They look the same pretty much, so why swap?

If you check a few photo's you'll see the F3 comes out with 2 different types of fender. I confirmed this by checking some parts numbers on various parts Fische's. I guess the fender you get depends what country you're in.

One F3 Fender is similar to the F2 Fender and the second is slimmer, more steamlined and in my opinion looks better and gives the bike a more modern look. Others may disagree.

I want to fit the slimmer one.

I have checked the axle part numbers and they are the same, so the forks must be the same distance apart.

"adrenalalnjunkie" comments that the lower tubes are the same on both models so the mount bolts must be the same and it looks like they can be swapped ok.

I'd certainly be open to further comment on this.

The fender just came in the mail. I'm replacing my seals and springs tonight, I'll plop it on and let you all know how it goes. I don't expect any issues though.

So I did get the fork seals/bushings/1.0Kg/mm springs in the front end, and mounted the fender in the process. It looks pretty decent, there is some waviness in the molding, and it's about half as thick as stock. That's totally fine with me. I never realized how heavy the stocker was until I compared it with the ~3/4lb re-pop. I decided not to paint it, but keep it black as accent.

And here's the color the bike's gonna be. I'm waiting on my wings to lay down clear. on the tank, and the tail fairings are still in primer.

The fender looks like a really good fit and Black will suit the bike - also you won't need to worry about stone chips - thanks for the feedback on this.

By the way what's that little "rocket" hiding away behind the fuel tank in photo 2?

Is this another project on the way?

I could see that with a VFR 1200 motor stuffed in it
