Charging problems

My F2 does not charge properly [:'(]
My old battery died, so i bought a new Yuasa 8 amp batt, and charged it up at home.

I did dome messuring.....
At Idle, messuring over + and - on the batt, it makes about 12,6V-12,7V Rev it to about 5000 rpm, and im makes 14V
If I turn on the lights, it drops to 12,6V regardless of RPM [:-]

I have messured the alternator, the 3 yellow wires. all 3 are at about 0,3 ohm , and the all make 20-22Vac when running at about 2000-2500rpm
I messured at the connector under the tank, and at the connector at the rectifier, just to be sure the wiring was ok.

I have messured the rectifier with the diode function on my multimeter, and it seems to be inside the limits, but im not able to ohm it through.

Could it still be the rectifier?

What would you look at next ?

RE: Charging problems

If the rectifier is bad,the voltage will gradually drop while the motor is running.

Turn on the lights? They're on all the time.

The best thing for all Hondas is a voltage gauge that wires to your battry.I got mine from the Parts Unlimited "BigBike Book". 26 bucks retail, easy to install. It's my "early warning system" when the rectifier is dying.

RE: Charging problems

Hi

Thanks, I bought a new rectifier yesterday, and and it works again ;)
The new onehas cooling fins on it opposed to the old one on my bike.
