Cbr600 f2 shift problems HELLPP
Hey guys I need help asap, so I've got a problem that's hard to describe first off correct me if I'm wrong but my bike kicks from 2nd to N all the time and I believe that's the left shift fork, but the bigger problem I cant seem to figure out is my bike will shift up in gears but even in 5th at 55mph it's at 7,000 rpm. And feels like it's in 3rd like there's no change in gears as I go up even though I feel it shifting
75mph in 6th is 6000rpm.
60mph in 4th is 6000rpm. So yeah, if your seeing 7000rpm at 55, you'd probably be in 3rd. Questions: 1) Do you have stock gearing on your bike? 2) Has it always done this or did it just start? 3) is it possible that your clutch is slipping? Is it adjusted correct? |
It hasn't always done this it just started this year when I took it out, a d i know it's in a higher gear because i will downshift through them, and at 6000 it really sounds like the motor is working itself when it should be being it has a 12,000 rpm rev limit
And also I'm honestly not sure how to check or adjust my linkage or clutch that's the only thing I will not touch simply because you can really mess crap up if your wrong
And JW if my clutch wasn't adjusted right wouldn't that cause all my gears not being able to shift to not just the higher ones?

Adjust the clutch at the clutch lever. Adjust it so you have some slack in the cable. The lever should move a bit before it starts to pull on the cable. If the lever is too tight, it won't let the clutch fully engage and it can slip. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, it will sound like it's turn more rpms just because it's louder. One other possibility is that your tach is not reading correct. Is it steady or does it ever bounce around at all? If you look at your rear sprocket, it may have a number stamped on it for the # of teeth. 43 on the rear is stock. |
I'll look at the sprocket in a min but the tach doesn't bounce around it stays pretty steady, and I just noticed out playing with it while off, that in 5 and 6th gear you can still push it, its hard but it still slightly spins but it 1,2,3,4 there's no rolling it
It just feels like it doesn't wanna go after 50mph but any before it runs fine, I recently fixed a stuck open choke on it, if it's still stuck open a tiny bit could that cause it
And it is a 43 tooth sprocket
Ok let me ask this, if you are riding along at say 55mph in 5th or 6th and you roll the throttle all the way open.
Does the bike accelerate and both the speed and the tach start to slowly climb? Or does the bike not accelerate and the speed stays the same, but the tach jumps up? |
