Default buying my first CBR

hey guys...im really new to the whole motorcycle thing...I've been wanting to ride for awhile and i barely took the MSF course and got my M1 license... My friend is selling me his 91 cbr 600 F2 for $1600.. has 41k on it, yoshimura slip on exhuast, minor damage on the upper right fairing.. and from what i read in the forum...it has the systoms of a recitifier problem and needs a carb clean up...just wondering if it's a good buy and if fiberglassing is a pain in the ***?

If it was any time but spring I would say you are overpaying for the bike knowing the miles and problems. Even in the spring you aren't getting a great deal with the damage and fixes needed.

You really need to look up things to check for when buying a bike. The simplest of things to watch out for could save you a grand easily. (search for bike buying checklist)

for 1000 i would buy it but not for 1600. thats to many miles for me. plus if it was beat up and stuff like that. youll end up paying more in the end when you start to fix things.

Don't be in too much ofa rush especially for your first bike.

Plenty of used 600f2's around, even the much improved F4's and F4i's for not much money.

Take your time, don't act too eager when looking and bring a buddy who knows bikes and what to look for (worn teeth in the front/rear sprockets, leaky fork seals, rattle from cam chain tensioner in engine, etc)

Good luck!
