Default Buying 92 f2

Hi, I`m in the market for buying my first bike. I found this one at a local used dealership and am wondering what you all think of it.

He now wants $3000 for it. I went to go look at it, but I`m not sure exactly what I`m looking for, and I have yet to test ride. The only problem I see is that it's a salvage title. Is that a big problem when buying a used bike?

in my opinion the salvage title drops that price way down. plus it's not the stock paint etc. I would personally offer $2500.. And if you have atleast $3000 to spend I would look around some more... you could probably find a newer bike for not much more money. Just don't buy the first thing ya see... look around, if you haven't already.

just to give you an idea.. here is an F3 for $3500.

Is anyone else suspicious of the mileage?

I dunno.

Since no one else is chiming in, I am sorta suspicious of the bike.... actually a lot.

A bike that old with so little mileage, yet at the same time it has a salvage title...what happened to this bike?

Was it stolen, abused and wrecked?

Was it in a flood, or just wrecked bad or just a little....like a tiny scratch on the frame?

If so, why is the original paint gone?

Too many questions for me.

And for it having a salvage title...that price is way way too high.

Also the rims are painted black...wasn't the original rims on the'92s white?

Mine are white.

What's up with this bike?

2 things.

1. this bike sounds like a bad idea. $2500 is way too much. blue book on a bike in average condition from '94 is $1650

2. since noone else has said it. 600cc bike is too much bike for a first time rider. look for a 500 Ninja or GS500 instead. much smarter for a first bike.

im not sure about that bike the salvage title is what scares me. it was prob a replaced cluster after some guy totaled it...and i have to dissagree i think that a 600 is jsut fine for a new rider. i rode mine home 60miles first time on a bike i think that it teaches you control..you dont have to pin the throttle...thats something good to learn early

Not to hijack this thread... but, Putting a new rider on a 600cc sport bike is like putting a 16yo in a V8 mustang and expecting them to live to see 19. You might get lucky and have one of the few 16yo's on the planet that doesn't drive like a moron but chances are you are gonna be mourning either the car or the kid.

Let's face it, if we weren't adrenaline junkies we would be riding cruisers.

Find a bike that lets you ride to ITS limits without exceeding YOURS to start on and you will learn control and proper technique. Then you can upgrade to a SS or SB.

Remember that few racers start their careers in SuperSport or SuperBike classes. They start in the 250cc class.

I tend to agree that slower and smaller is better...but everyone is different and has different skill levels.

Of course, you don't wanna buy a 600cc and find out the hard way that you lack those natural abilities.

I began on a Kawasaki EX500, no regrets!

I agree about getting maybe a 500cc or something for a first street bike. My first bike was a used 1978 XR75 - I was 10 years old, my dad made me right that thing for 6 years before I got a KX125 - what a difference for sure!!

there are plenty of low milage, cheap 500's around, PLUS!!! if you happen to dump it, you won't mind as much!! Get whatever you'd like, but just food for thought.. BE SAFE!
