It is mounted under the left-hand side cover on the engine.

The r/r does 2 things...
1 changes the AC from the stator to DC to the battery (that's the rectifier part).

2 regulates the output of the converted DC to stay within the limits
needed by the bikes electrical sub-systems (about 11.4 to 14.8 volts)

The reason I mention the stator, if it fails it can damage the r/r and/or vice-versa.
I recently went through the whole deal on my bike. I started out replacing just the r/r.
It went bad, again, and I ended up replacing both the stator and the r/r, to solve the problem I was having.

Sweet thanks, that was very descriptive and very useful. My voltage meter goes up and down when I rev it. Would that mean its charging. It never goes below 11.6v? Battery sounds good too, doesn't sound like its losing any juice.

Also, I took the bike out for a spin last night, (colder weather) and the bike ran better but still poor throttle response. In the day though the bike gets hot pretty fast and stutters. Like almost to the (H) on the temp gauge. Going to run it this morning to see if anything has changed, temp wise.

I have my eye on a few 2003-2004 GSXR600/750 R/R's, will those be fine if needed, (will need lol)?

So I was riding today and went up and down the block, and it started out good running a little sluggish and some stuttering. I pushed it to about 75mph and then slowed down and when I came to a slower, some what stop, the bike just cut out pulled to the side of the road (bike lane) and it started right up. Put it in first and the bike just cut out. Let it sit for like a minute, started it back up and drove it home. Not good.

r/r, I'm telling you. It heats up, fails. You stop, bike cools, starts working...heats up, fails....

Yes, pretty much any r/r will work. The internet lore says the zuki's are the best substitute/replacement, if you don't go new. Anything 750 and up.

With a can I carb cleaner, I'm suspecting by you stating it runs like a champ when it's cold, all your gaskets are super shrunk and probably it's those rubber boots connecting your carbs to he motor. Just spray carb cleaner on the motor around seals and see if your Rpms jump

Make sure the vent lines in your tank aren't clogged too, just while you have everything apart. A clogged vent could cause fuel flow issues, starving the bowls out, and then the bike slows down or stops and they get a chance to refill.

Will a 1999 GSX-R600 Rectifier work? Cause I accidentally bought one. Thought it was a newer model and well, it wasn't.

Their all pretty generic, cap high, cap low voltage and convert AC to DC. As long as
it has a finned heat-sink, you should be fine. I usually hear about the 750-900's but,
I don't see why a 600 suki shouldn't do the job.
