Bike runnin hot?

Im new to the forum, well not actually. Just signed up today... lol.... on to the question.....

I have a 94 f2 and i was wondering, do any of your bikes run hot easily? I know in stop and go traffic that it may go up but it seems like mine go up pretty easily. Is this normal or what?

yea mine goes up 3 quaters to over heat but it just sits there and it gets there fast, specialy in florida where i am. but as long as u dont get really close to that red line a the top ur fine, ur coolent and ur fan will keep it from over heating all the way, or at least it should

My bike is about the same. In stop and go, 3/4 of the way up the temp guage is average. A quick rip down the highway in 6th or any road that you can get up to a good speed on 50-60mph ish and my temp guage is usually back down to under half way.

Mine stays 3/4 at most. Only on track days does it sometimes flirt w/"red".

Try flushing out the coolant and adding some "engine ice" or water wetter.

Run w/out the bottom fairings too, it helps but not A LOT.

Don't forget, CBRs do tend to run a bit hot @ times. Quite normal.

I was having the same problems with mine when I first got it.I removed the thermostat and its been fine ever since.I noticed the thermostats on F2's are made in a bad position. Its right on an elbow on the head.So it restricts flow.It only takes about 5 minutes to remove so it wont hurt to try and see if it works for you.The negative is if you ride in cool climates it will take the bike longer to warm up.

Going on a cruise once... we were stuck in stop and go traffic and the temp reached to 3/4 hot.

I was getting pretty worried

A. the bike temp

B. the battery draining

If it had gotten any hotter I would have pulled over. I'm relieved to hear you all have 3/4 temps too

yea my roomates 96 900rr runs really hot. i live in some of the heaviest traffic in the nation, and in one of the hottest parts of the nation and my bike never goes over 3/4th so dont worry bout it till it hits that red line, because thats what the red line is their for, to tell u to stop before u blow the damn thing up, but you can usualy go for about 15-20 minutes on red before u cause any damage. if the bike hits red while riding over 40mph then ur ****ed.
