Default Best tyres (tires) for commuting

Ok I accept the F2 wasn't designed with commuting at the forefront of Honda's minds, but this is my trusty steed and I commute 50 miles each way to work on mostly straight roads.

I'm running Bridgestone BT020s on both ends and they are great but the rear only lasts about 4-5k miles before the tread markers start to show in the centre.

I guess the Bridgestones are a softish compound but what tyres are you guys, who mostly commute like me on straight roads, running?

Also is this typical wear? I check the pressures regularly.

Michelin Pilots are good.

I would think 5K on a set of tires isn't too bad.

I've always had good luck with race take-offs. Cheap and sticky.

I run the Pilots also...I'm digging the looks of the Continental Attack Hyper Sports though.

I had brand new Bridgestone Battleax tiresfront and rear when I bought my F2 and I put almost 10,000 on them. No s**t! I didn't really haul anyone and that helped alot. I did have to all but bribe the inspection station the last year or two, though. Thought I'd save $$ and get some cheap Maxxis for it this time, but I'm not real happy with them. They're wearing very quickly.

Yes I've heard very good things about the Battlaxe's too. The FZR community goes bananas over them.

P.S. - Fn - those are cool looking tires. Wonder how they ride.
