Bent shifter?

My shift lever has a slight bend in it and I've always wondered if that's normal or if it should be straight. Check out the picture and let me know if it looks normal or not.

I've been riding it for years like this but decided I might sort it out if it shouldn't have a bend like that.

Thanks in advance for opinions.

Don't think it's supposed to be like that. Last time I checked my shift lever, it was completely straight...I'm sure if I check again, it'll be bent LOL

It IS supposed to be straight, but that looks usable, anyway. If you find it's too far inside for comfortable shifts, you can take a claw hammer, preferrably a big framing hammer, and use the claw part that pulls nails, to orient around the shifter pedal arm, and carefull pry it out straight - I had to do that after my accident a couple of years back - worked like a charm.

Thanks for the feedback. It's part of owning a used bike I guess, getting more familiar with it over time and discovering all the little 'customizations' the previous owner did to the bike. I figured it had been dropped at some point and the shifter got a little bent. I'll try and straighten it out a bit and see if it makes shifting a tad easier.

Yep! Both of my pegs are slanted to the rear at a pretty good angle too.Attachment 37235I've considered making a jig that I can bolt the peg mounts to and then put in a vice and bend them back straight.

And bent ass pegs are not helpful during wheelie time!

I'm sure I'll have new/fixed pegs before I start doing wheelies. Wheelies are pretty low on my list of skills to master.
