Default RE: battery ?

Your charging system is bad. Voltage Regulators/Rectifiers are known problems on F2's. It is easy enough to run a diagnostic using a simple voltage meter. Your electrical system runs off your battery, so it is something you want to repair ASAP, unlike cars that run off the alternator. Voltage Regulator will run about $115.00 if you need one. Stock Honda Part is closer to $200.00.
Eventually you will ruin your battery if you don't repair your charging system, that will add another $50.00 or so to your repair bill.

do you think a 1997 Honda CBR 600 F3 Voltage Regulator would work on my 92 cbr 600 f2?

I believe the F2 and F3 share the same Voltage Regulator. My parts book shows the same part number from 91-97.
But to be safe, you might ask a Honda Parts guy.
