Which way does the clutch spring retainer go? Convex side in, or out?

Well, I put it together "correctly" and it still doesn't work.

Guess I'll just have to switch to my other set of discs...

Well, I finally got the clutch to work.

Except now it just got too dark to ride (with no lights). Doh.

My first problem (that I didn't even stop to check the first time I tried to redo the clutch) was that the clutch outer wasn't meshed with the oil pump sprocket. RTFM, I guess... I was having problems with getting the lock nut to screw on far enough to stake it easily. I should have stopped and took a better look at the sprocket and the back of the outer.

Second, I guess I should have noticed that the clutch was supposed to spin freely when bolted to the flywheel, before you put the springs on. Every time I screwed the bolt on, it would lock the clutch up (I never noticed this apparently).

For the record, I didn't have to drain the oil. You don't *have* to drain the oil if you haven't overfilled it, and if you put it on the kickstand. If you don't do both of these things, you will probably have a mess...

You also don't have to replace the lock nut every time. You just need to make sure that you stake thread it on so that you can stake a 'fresh' section.

I re-used my lock nut too.

I didn't think you had to drain the oil, but I called Honda and they said unless you tipped it over as far as it could go you'd have a mess.

That's because people tend to overfill their oil, when they check it while it's on the kick stand.

My oil level is dead-on while it's centered (and off the stand), so I didn't have a mess when it's on the kickstand.

...the eagle has landed...

and then the eagle got dropped onto grass the first time I tried to go back up the driveway. LOL.

I should probabaly register it and get a plate before I go for many more test rides...

Now that's the kinda **** you gotta get on tape and post on You-Tube, so the masses can speak with poor grammar and attempt to insult you!

lol.

It wasn't really a you-tube-esque crash. I just came in a little too hot and dropped it before almost crashing into a bush.

Now THIS is a you-tube crash... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXO5Z0dHRz0

My first ride went a bit smoother :p

That was close to me riding my friends dirt bike when I was like 12 grabbed the clutch instead of the brake. :) After thinking about it I don't remember he swears I did but I hit my head not wearing a helmet so a lesson learned I guess.
