the filter has a plastic frame, the rubber seal is probably stuck from dirt and heat to the air box, just pull it out of the box, its NOT glued, unless someone before you did somthing really stupid, like sealed it in [:@]

well i got the filter out. problem was it was glued.... i guess the guy i bought it from was crazy. anyways i've posted some pics cause it left part of the filter all around the hole cause of the glue. is it safe to just cut away at that with a razorblade and then use some googone to get the glue off? also i dont seem to have a rubber seal(maybe thats why its glued?) can that be bought with the air filter? finally, do i need to do anything with the metal plate that was underneath the air filter, or can i just leave it there? thanks

I could be wrong, but from the pictures you posted it looks like you just removed the paper from the air filter. I just replaced mine and that rubber piece you're holding (with the metal screen) is all part of the air filter. Hope that helps.

Either buy a Genuine Honda filter or a K&N filter to fit F2 models but they're expensive, then you'll see just what to remove.
If sounds like you have cut the paper filter out of the housing that comes with the complete filter.
If you have done this your asking for trouble if you live in a hot dusty climate, premature bore wear, & constant dirt in carbs, the list is endless.

Sorry to tell you but you have just ruined your filter, go for a k + n filter, these filters are oil soaked so you will need to buy some filter oil and filter cleaning powder to clean her up in the future. I use Twin Air filter oil and cleaner, round about 30 bucks each.
