Default 94 F2 Wont Start, No Power

I went for a crusie with a buddy yesterday, we went roughly fifty miles then stopped. When I turned the bike off I heard an odd high pitched whinning/ringing noise coming from the bike. I have no idea what it was, it went away after about a minute. Along with an odd rotten egg smell.I went in the gas station got a drink and went back out to the bike. Went to start it and nothing. Gauges didnt light up no power at all. I figured ok I'll just push start it. Thatworked but the bike wasnt running right at all. It wouldnt rev above 3K and if I tried to use my turn signals the bike would die. It would fall on its face in every gear and wouldn't go over 55. Nursed it home and still no power after turning it off.I put a meter on the battery with the bike not running and got 12.98V.This is my first bike, I've had it maybe a month or two and this is the first "real" problem I got. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

it could be a dead battery.. reading volts but their is a bad cell in it so i would start off with replacing that

I just ohmed out my R/R and got OL. But the wiring harness going to the R/R checked out fine.
I'm thinking the R/R is bad. But not positive.

the rotten egg smell suggests something with the battery. I'd probably replace that. Search around for the R/R stuff on the forum, I don't know much about that.

On these bikes the r/r is a common thing to go bad.R/R won't give that smell. Battry homie, battry.Yuasa is the best.

Yea, hissing sound is the battery venting, and the smell is the battery acid.

just so you know..
the r/r meters (regulates)the voltage to the battery and any un-used energy is dissipated by air cooling and frame dissipation.. if the R/R goes bad it can overcharge a battery giving those symptoms and making the battery bad.. when i first got my bike i went through 3 batteries before i replaced the R/R and not a problem since..
