I recently acquired what the dealer said was an f2 from 1994, but I noticed the fairings are from an f3 from 1995. All the research I've done on the vin and such has indicated that the bike is indeed a '94 f2. What are the indicators that the fairing kit has been swapped? Could it be that the bike was registered incorrectly?
Ive included pictures of my bike below for reference
The bike is a 94 F2. Someone put F3 bodywork on it. Not uncommon.
They are very similar, body work is also similar.
Some aftermarket (fiberglass) body work only came in F3 style for both bikes.
But that bodywork looks stock.
Lots of people do swapped in order to make the bike look cool, more 'up to date' or some other stupid reason.

Thanks for the input! Also noticed the gauge cluster doesn't line up with the upper side fairings so i think you're right that it just has the fairings from an f3.
Followup question, so it would make more sense to get f2 fairings to replace the current ones because they will theoretically bolt right up?

F2's have a mechanical speed, F3's are electric, so more than likely you have F2 gauges. I can see the speedo cable in the pics.
As for bodywork, it depends on what you want to do with the bike.
I personally like well taken care of stock looking bike - very classic. Swap bike almost always look like mutts.
F2 bodywork would be the best, but bodyworks is expensive and finding good F2 bodywork is getting difficult.
Getting a full set of F2 bodywork is probably not worth it if you are on any kind of budget.
You already have the F3 bodywork. It will require work to make it fit like factory, but it can be done.
It always comes down to time or money. Pick one.
