Default 94 600 F2

Hey guys, new to site, just recently purchased a 94 cbr 600 F2, LOVE IT TO DEATH!!! just a couple of things that I have noticed with it, when i first start it, I notice a rattle in the motor, sounds like valves knocking. Does go away after is warmed up. Also noticed that there is a slight miss at the lower Rpm's. Is there a easy way to change the plugs on it? I'm hoping to post some pics of it on here since it has a total custom paint job on it. Have enjoyed reading the posts, gotten some very useful info. Any tips or hints on the things I've asked?

Welcome!

Maybe the rattling is the cam chain tensioner? CCT?

Thats a known problem with f2's

I still hug mine every day-- have you?

I'm just wondering if changing the oil would make a difference. The guy I bought it from hadn't licensed it for 2 years. I love the bike. just a couple little things I need to work out to fix. Do you know how to remove the weights in the handle bars for aftermarket bar ends? I tried to get them out, couldn't get them. Full Two Bro's Exhaust with header, that's how I can notice the slight miss. Any easy way to replace the plugs????

TO reach the plugs I think you need to take off the gas tank.

I haven't done it yet.

One person told me rather than disconnect the hoses...make sure the tank is almost empty of fuel and have it suspended by string or cables above your bike... like use a clothes line maybe?

I dunno [:@]

I found changing the spark plugs to be a bitch to be honest. Take off the fairings and the gas tank, and use a socket and a couple different angle attachments and you can get to them. Once you see how to do it it will be much easier. You should also use a socket that is made for spark plug removal or its hard to get out of the hole. If its missing down low you might want to check the battery and make sure its charged, I put mine on the charger for a little bit and did away with the low rpm missing. Else you left the choke on for to long and they are fouled. Defintaly check the battery first instead of going through the spark plug headache. Get someone to help you do the plugs and it will be much easier. I had someone hold the gas tank to the side while I removed the plugs, that way I didnt have to disconnect the tank at all. Hope this helps.

Well I just got a 94 F2... first bike and I was having spark plug problems as well... i heard a lot about taking the bike apart but as long as you are determined and have a decent spark plug tool you can get it without removing anything. I am 6'3" and have big hands but I got mine in about 45mins... what I did is buy a tool that has a little extension attachment.. I took out the plug wires and dropped the wrench part in with the plug and then put the extension in and felt around and it easily clicked into place. I started on the left most plug because it is the easiest to get to. Then I removed the other 2 wires after tightening the first plug. And to unscrew the far plug was difficult to reach. I used vice grips to get the intial turn going then I was able to use my hand. The extension tool I have can bend a little bit so when I went to lift out the plug I just turned the extension and curled it out with the old plug in it. It hurt my hand a little to get the right plug but no scratchs or bruises again I am a rookie and I dont know what I am doing but i just wanted you to know it is possible. It was such a relief to get new plugs, it was just what I needed. Good luck with yours.
