Default 2001 top end rebuild? Common?

Hi I am new to here but have been reading countless threads and decided you guys could help me out. This is kinda of a "should I buy" post. I found a 1992 with 15k miles and a clean title. But the bike is said to have had the top end of the motor rebuilt with a 2001 top end. If I'm not mistaken I thought 2001 was fuel injected. So is this something you have seen before?

I can post a link to the add if wanted. Thanks in advance.

1992 cbr 600 clean title( first with $1,700 cash takes it)

Would you buy this? It needs to be pushed started because the starter was put in weird. I guess when they try to start it wakes weird noises. I haven't looked at the bike yet so I cant explain in detail.

The starter motor acts on a starter idler gear that hits a driven gear attached to the back of the alternator rotor. If the starter is new, it is possible that teeth on these two gears may be damaged. There is also a bearing on the crankshaft that could be affected as well. Not a little job in either case. Unless you are mechanically minded and can do the work yourself, I'd walk away, because a shop is going to cost you.

I would be able to do it myself. But do you think after all of the failed start attempts the teeth are now stripped completely?

Also what do you think about the top end of the motor being rebuilt with a 2001?

I'm not going to take a chance on this bike. Too many red flags. Why would a clean bike with only 15k miles need a rebuild anyway? I'm looking for a f2 or f3 but I don't see too many FS around here. Thank for your help.
