Default 1994 F2 no spark, please help

I bought a 1994 cbr 600 f2 last year and it ran great. I drove it alot and it ran and performed great. I left it in my garage for the winter (about 4 months), still ran great! But then I tried to start the bike after winter, and it just would not fire. I brought it to a friend to try to see what the problem was and it was determined that the bike was not getting spark. I have not messed with it and I was just hoping that someone could let me know what the problem is. Thanks!!!

I dont mean to be a jerk, but have you checked all the basics? Battery is properly charged, run switch is corrosion free, battery wires are all secure? Did you drain the fuel out of it before you quit riding it, if not the plugs just might be crapped up which can act like getting no spark.

Right first things 1st, no body does this they all jump in at the deep end
Basic rules for any engine to run are FUEL , IGNITION, MECHANICAL

Check to see if you have fuel flow to the carbs'
Remove plugs, then reconnect them to the HT leads hold them to ground with some pliers and turn the engine over, you should see a healthy spark, dont just check 1 plug check em all (I know they are a pain in the *** to remove)
Next is the engine turning over fast enough?
Is the battery fully charged? if it drops below 10v it won't create enough juice to work the spark unit. when cranking.

if everything is ok as above then you need to investigate further
but im sure if you go through this proceedure you'll get her up and running

I have checked all the basics. There is no spark, and you can smell the gas.

This is for all four plugs? If just two you may have a coil out, which is not terribly uncommon. If it's all four, see if you have a buddy you can borrow a CDI box from and swap it. Is possible to cause a short that can zap the box and eat your ignition. After that you start chasing wires and switches.

you will smell gas 'cause it's not being ignited,
If you can get hold of a HAYNES manual it will show you how to test the coils

I brought my bike to a shop and they finally got it started. But when they got it started they said if you touch the gas, it will die out. And worst of all they said there was a clunking of some sort comming from inside the engine. They said the carbs might have to be adjusted for the throttle, but the interal noise might be somthing with the valve train. What do you guys think? Also I kinda remember a small noise from before from inside, but someone said my timing chain needs to be tightened could these to things be related?

Yeah, run a search on here and you'll find that the most common problem on any CBR is the cam chain tensioner going bad. They rattle and make nasty noise, and if are neglected can lead to jumping cam timing and destroying a motor.

How much is will a cam chain tensioner cost to install? My shop gets $55 an hour. Is it a serious part? Also what do they have to take apart to install the part?

I'm thinking the shop manual says 2.5 hours for a CCT swap (2.5 x $55). My recommendation is get a manual tensioner from APE for a replacement, though lots of people just put another stock Honda part in. The manual tensioner means you have to periodically adjust it, though it's simple to do. The stock Honda ones run off oil pressure (which is why they are noisiest when you first start the bike) and do a good job with no fuss, until you have to replace them again.
