Default 1994 CBR 600 F2 fan problem

Hi everybody, I'm new here and just recently purchased a 94 F2. I'm having trouble with the fan. When the bike is moving the radiator works and the bike keeps cool, however when stopped the fan is not activating so the bike will overheat. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this and has suggestions for what to check. I'm not great with electrical work but if anyone has a list of what to check that would be great. I'm assuming it's either the fan motor or some issue with electrical. Thanks!

Same problem i had on my bike

Change the temp feeler (bad english i know) it's mounted on the radiator, lower left corner, you will find it easy, it's got a cable connected ti it... change it & it will probably work good as new...

if you need another fan motor ive got one....if your having problems with the thermostat then just wire a switch from a ground (-) and solder it or butt connect it to the wire that runs from the thermostat and you can turn it on whenever you want...i soldered mine in with the thermostat so the thermostat would still work with it also

Are you positive it's overheating? The fan will not turn on until the temperature gauge is quite high, you may be over-worrying - but check the fuse and relay.

thanks for the replies guys, the temp gauge gets pretty high, I guess I'm not certain it's overheating, but it has gotten up to the top of the gauge (not the red part) without the fan kicking in. I guess I could try it again.. I checked the fuse and it looked okay, where is the relay? Also not sure what a temp feeler is, but I guess I can look into that

Hershey has a good point... exactly how high is the temp? my fan works but it doesn't turn on until the temp goes above 3/4 on the gauge.

wow thanks guys! I just let it run and you're right, the fan does come on it just goes right to the edge of the threshold before it kicks in. Thanks a lot again that saved me a bunch of needless work.. I'm assuming theres no way to adjust where the fan kicks in except by making it totally manual huh?

a switch is better anyway.... 20 degrees makes a big difference in HP and longevity of an engine. Put a switch on it so you can turn it on when your in traffic or when you feel your legs cooking

yeah thats kinda what I was thinking, I'm going to try to do the homemade integrated taillight tomorrow too so I'll probably work on em both.. thanks again for the help

the fan switch is a 5 minute job and its worth it....my piece is a stunter so its manditory but i would put a manual switch on a pure street bike too no doubt
