i've gotten to 135...could have went faster but this is when my front wheel bearing went bad...scary **** at that speed....wobble wobble shake it shake it, anyway...seems my bike gets to that speed only when it wants to...sometimes it'll stop at 115-120 downhill and other times will go 135up hill and keep pulling...who knows...damn carb'd bikes

How much do you weigh? I can get 140-145 consistently. My carbs are jetted (Stage 1 only), got a V&H pipe, K&N...nothing done to the ignition. Chain and Sprockets are stock. I have seen claims as high as 160 on here...claims though. But 130 is a little on the low side I think.

i have to agree with ed on that 1...130 is a little on the slow side..i also get 140-145 consistently and have hit 150 a time or 2....you might want to have your bike looked at unless your a big guy ,because that could play a role

Yeah well I'm sure they could hit any speed so long as the speedo is inaccurate enough. With -1/+2 sprockets I could get an *indicated* 135 out of it. at about 125 I think my handheld GPS said I was only doing about 110. And before you ask I wasn't looking at my GPS at the time, it records the fastest speed.

Anyway, while I can't really criticize, what exactly is the point to get going over 140? I mean, in reality there isn't too much of a need to go half that fast. Who cares if it can go 160 or 180? If anybody is dumb enough to care just lie to them, because invariably you'll end up dead if you keep trying to get closer and closer to 200.

If you really think you need more power then you have to do some engine work. Cams, heads, that kind of stuff. And its just plain easier to get a different bike.

Keep in mind that elevation plays a role too. On ANY naturally aspirated motor, the higher you are, the less air the motor can pull in per revolution. All else being equal, your bike will always go faster at sea level than it will in the mountains. [8D]
