Hi guys, got a problem i need sum help with. i've got a haynes so can refur to that but its that that has confused me, im putting parts on the old girl to see if i can get her to fire, previous owner fitted a new loom so before I hook up the battery I wanna make sure everythings where it should be! the 6 wires going into the cdi go to which pins. would any one be so kind to take a pic for me of theirs or explain the haynes diagram for me? please please help, the bikes in the dining room for a limited time b4 the beloved wifey makes me put her back in the garage!

What year is your bike? I can take a pic if it is 87 or 88.

 

From the battery... negative to chassis ground. Positive to fuse(30 amp main fuse). Red wire to ignition switch, red/bl to 10amp sub fuse. Bl to engine stop switch. From engine stop switch Bl/W splits goes to both coils and 2nd terminal on spark unit. First terminal on spark unit Bu/Y wire goes to ignition coil for cylinders 2 and 3. Y/Bu goes from third terminal to ignition coil for cylinders 1 and 4. Fourth terminal G to chassis ground. Fifth terminal Bu to pulse generator 2. Sixth terminal W/Bu to pulse generator 2. Seventh terminal Y to pulse generator 1. Eighth terminal W/Yl to pulse generator 1.
The additional two terminals go to the sidestand safety switch and are not present on 87/88 cdi boxes.

 

fantastic, great help, mines a 90 though (unfortunately!) so im right in guessing mines wired wrong looking at how it is in the link. If yours is exactly the same bar the side stand wiring if you wouldnt mind taking a pic i would be so so gratefull as i've been stuck on this for ages, dont really see the point in buying new loom as i have one already just in wrong!! lol

the diagram shows how your wires should be connected into the CDI. my earlier harness is wired the same way without the two middle wires on the six plug. get a volt/multimeter,verify the wires plug to plug, and re key the plug if needed.

Can anyone post a picture detailing which terminal mates with the appropriate wire? I have a similar problem and the diagrams aren't any help.. I don't want to guess and fry my cdi.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
