Default What are these plugs/connectors for?

Pulling apart my friends 88 CBR600...we found these connectors that are no plugged into anything:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

They are located behind the carbs, under the tank.

Anyone know what they're for?

i was just about to say, your picture shows another red and white plug on either side. maybe these are the new R/R wires OR that CBR came with options for 2 different styles of R/R from the factory?

They are for the reg/rec. Follow the stator wires to see if there is another one that has been relocated.

The 3-pin one should be from the stator on the left of the engine, the red one is to the grounds of the r/r. I assume the bike hasn't been running, if theose are'nt plugged to anything. Both hook to the harness and then come back out by the r/r on the right of the bike to actually hook up the r/r. At least, that's what the F3 set-up is like.

Default ur plugs

just to clarify,i have an 88 they are the rr leads. the other two plugs are as follows white plug runs to one of the ignition coils ,the other red plug is for theignition pickup from the left side of the engine, there is not as standard 2 sets of plugs for the rr so urs must have been re routed and the old one left in place.mine is a uk one so not sure if urs may be different but unlikely as from ur pic its identical . hope this help u

The bike definitely runs.
We've put thousands on KMs on it and it is always running and starting fine.

I think I spotted the R/R under the rear fender.

I'll double check and follow the leads/wires to see where they are currently connected to.

The bike has definitely been roughly patched together. The fan comes on fully with the Ignition on, and other horrible fixes.

If it's been patched up, they might have by-passed the distribution point. Which is
what that area is. If you trace the 3 yellow wires from the stator (on the left side),
I bet they go straight across the bike to the r/r, I'm also betting the +/- from the r/r
goes straight to the battery. I'd have to do some research to know if that kind of
arrangement has any long-term issues. Check it out, if you would. I'm curious, now. ;-)
