tail section

RE: tail section
89, I think it would be possible to do, but you would need to seriously mod your tail, I would reccomend with some high temp epoxy of some type. Then maybe switch to some type of slip-on like a yosh or something like along those lines that has pretty decent baffling built in. I have even noticed on my 07 RR that the passenger seat gets warm after just a couple of hours of riding.

If you are putting on a 600rr tail and going to make room for an undertail exhaust, you can also get the stock heat shield from a 600rr and use it as well. Check ebay, when I was considering it I was about to buy a subframe with all attached pieces minus cowl. I have also seen tail assemblies without the S/F.

a fully adjustable shock will set you back $500-$1000. mostly the cost will be from remote reservoir, hydraulic adjuster, and height adjustment options.
i have a hyperpro with remote res. but no height adjustment or hydraulic preload adjustment.
there is also ohlins and nitron.
aftermarket shocks are usuallyspecific to customer weight. so my spring is for 150lb rider. this pretty much rules out riding 2 up even after preloading the rear. so just keep that in mind.
installation is easy. 1 hour tops. jack up the bike so the rear is not loaded, remove top shock bolt, remove bottom shock bolt, pull out shock, put new one in and bolt back up. done. what will take more time is dialing the shock in to rider preference. the extra adjustability - rebound and compression, is great but a pain in the *** to get right. it took me quite a few rides around the twisties.
