probably not the timing, its pretty much set in one place. more likely unsync'd carbs, a dirty jet, or valves need adjusted.

Careful with the carb cleaner. Carburator cleaner is an acid that WILL melt plastic and rubber parts. Should be used very sparingly.

theyre really not that hard, all you really need to do is pull the bowls off and remove the jets and clean them, its not necessary to separate the carbs to clean them.
