My friend had a black widow triple tree stand for his r6, and some other swingarm stand. The black widow was great iirc. I've been thinking about this as well so anyone else have any opinions?

cant use a tripple tree stand because the horns in the way iirc. you would have to relocate the horn. swing arm on the other hand, i used a harbor freight stand with the paddles and it suited me perfectly, under 50 bucks also.

^ Moving the horn by loosening a bolt is a NON-issue...takes a few seconds. ;-) I have to do this w/ my F4 when I use my PitBull front triple stand. Its just part of the process.

90CBR600f, I primarily use my PitBull stands. They are excellent quality & rock solid. PitBull's warranty can't be beat either. While you would pay more for PitBulls than most other stands, you'll only need to buy stands once.

Without the triple tree stand can I still remove and service the front tire?

Yes you can remove the front tire with the standard fork type stands, but you cannot remove the forks to work on the front suspension. I don't remember what brand my stand is off hand, but it came with the triple tree and the fork adapters so you can lift the bike both ways. Another benefit to the triple tree stand is to set the air pressure in the forks they must be unloaded which you can't do with a fork stand.

^ Same here. I have a PitBull that is either a std fork lifting type but also has the adapter to covert the stand to a lower triple lifting type. Its paid for itself many times over.

If you are not going to be doing a lot with the stands then i would recommend t-rex stands. They are reasonably priced and pretty solid.

If you will be using the stands a lot , IE track and work then Pitbull are the bomb.

I have both

T-rex that's the brand that I bought.. they are pretty well priced and work just fine for me. There is definitely better out there such as Pitbull, but mine don't get a ton of use so they have worked out perfect in the few years I've had them.

Either way you go I would definitely suggest getting the fork/triple tree capable stand for the front or you'll probably regret it later. Not sure what type of lift you were looking at, but the ones designed for cruiser type bikes don't really work on sport bikes as there is nowhere to lift them from.
