It doesnt throw your speedo off by ANYTHING. ours are driven by the front wheel, so gearing has ZERO effect on it.

FYI, vortex is JUNK. Sunstar, JT, DID, RK, etc, all great names, as are AFAM, but vortex is pure junk. -1 up front and going to a 520 conversion would probably make a nice change on your old 600, and free up some unsprung weight to help it move a fair bit faster.

Instead of -1 on the front I would do +2 on the back (virtually the same affect)... Your chain might last a little longer not having to wrap around a smaller sprocket.

Hurricane is right, your speedo is not affected.

He's also correct that vortex is straight junk... never buy aluminum sprockets unless they are for a race bike and you intend to replace them every 2 races.

vdub if your sprockets are aluminum you may want to go count your teeth

I'd blame it on the blond thing. check out twowheelfix.com, as well as twowheelforum, theres a BUNCH of threads there where its stated time and again over like 5 years or so easily that vortex=junk. were it me, I'd yank that crap off and replace it with better brand sprockets now. both of them, not just the rear.

I have 5k miles on my vortex set, no problems at all, I like em. but I am more a long trip rider, not really hammering on it all the time. I do accelerate pretty good, but certainly not all the time.
