Spark unit broke......AGAIN!
Hi all,
First time posting on this forum so let me briefly introduce myself.
I'm Gary from Bristol in the UK and currently ride a 1990 CBR 600F.
About 2 months ago I had trouble starting the bike one morning after it was stood up for a week. Turned out to be the spark unit which I replaced with one from e-bay. This is now bust again. No spark and other items like pick up and kill switch etc are working.
Anyone have any ideas or is it just bad luck?
Thanks in anticipation.
Gary

kinda odd it would be eating spark units. i would start checking wiring. i would check all your electrical connectors and clean them. then check your grounds. if you're handy with reading wiring diagrams, and using a multimeter, check the individual wires going to the spark unit checking for shorts, or opens. or if it comes down to it, cut open the wire harness and visualy inspect each wire.

did work with a new unit
It worked when I fitted the new unit for about a month I suppose.
Prior to replacing it I had checked all the wiring; side stand switch, neutral switch, kill switch, wires to coils, pick up. All acted as should but no spark?!
Its now sat in the car park at work. Think I'll probably get a new spark unit and try that again. Then when its home I'll check the wiring again and again....
Strange it should go twice.
