Default razing the back end

Hello
Here's what I'm thinking. I want to put a 150/70/17 on the back and keep my 110/80/70 on the front. I will raze the back end up, by
extening the lower mounting joint 1/2 an inch, on my shock. would this work?

Sorry, I didn't see a shock in that picture.
Seriously it might raise it, but more likely it would totally change the whole suspension geometry, and make the bike have unstable response during hard corners.

OIC well have you tried the hardest setting on the shock yet? It makes it sit about 1/2" to 3/4" higher than the two lowest settings

Check out my thread on "Shock Upgrade"
https://cbrforum.com/m_239419/tm.htm

Usingmy thread a guide, you can raise the rear ride height and upgrade the shock to a newer CBR shock for less than $100.00

This upgrade is the Cat's *** for an old dog.

Let me know if I can help, it's really not that hard to do!

John

Thanks John thats great! It's really that easy? Do you have any pictures of your bike razed?
Does it affect the head light?

Yes, it's easy.

First you need to surf Ebay and get the items needed for the upgrade.

Shock (98 CBR600 F3)purchase shockwith along reservoir line
Linkage (98 CBR600 F3)

Once you have these items you need to install the new shock to the new swingarm link and install the new aluminum dogbone link to the frame, but not to the swingarm link.

Basically you measure the ride height you want by the amount of aluminum you remove from the F3 dogbone link.

I removed an 1-3/8 of aluminum from the link giving me an additional 1-1/4 of solid ride height, the less aluminum you remove from the link, the higher the ride height.

A few things to keep in mind while doing the upgrade.

1st keep an eye on the chain. To much dog bone link and the chain will rub and grind on the swingarm and you don't want that.

2nd you have to find a machine shop in your area that will cut and weld (tig) the link. It should not cost more than $50.00 to have this done, any machine shop should be able to do this for you in 1 day, it's no big beal, you just need a good solid weld in the link!!!!

I have the tools so I was able to cut and weld this on my own so I did not have it done out of house.

3rd Shock and links on ebay should be less than $50.00 they are all over and you just have to look in the right place. give me a shout if you need help in picking out the right one. If I get some time today I will surf Ebay and post my finds for you.

Good Luck on your project
John!

ebay links (shocks)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...spagenameZWDVW

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/USED-...spagenameZWDVW

This one has one of the 2 links you need
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/I-199...spagenameZWDVW

Check this out this adjustable link, no welding would be needed!!!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CBR-6...spagenameZWDVW
Just attach the swing arm link and new shock to the cane, then mount and adjust this link to suit your needs and you are ready to rock!

here is the type of unit that I used.
