RE: Random Hose
Ok i did a bit more investigating and all the hoses coming out of the canister are cut. As for the other ends I found one with a screw in it.
My question now is should i take and locate the others, and make sure they are sealed? And for the one that goes into the vacum tee, should i just turn it into a straight piece, and eliminate the excess hose? And should i remove the canister( i believe its the emissions canister) and keep it on hand?

RE: Random Hose
I've just finished replacing most of the gaskets in my carbs chasing a fuel leak and have found the californee emissions stuff very confusing. The bike runs, but the PCV valve, canister, etc. are not connected as per the diagram on the airbox (that's where to look for tube-routing information on a cali' 'cane). Only one of the hoses to the canister is hooked up to anything on my bike. Can someone with a 49-state 'cane post some good pictures of their carbs with the airbox removed so that we can figure out how to remove the unecessary hoses and valves and such? Preferably pics from the top with the airbox and metal plate removed as well as from below like HurricaneRider's pic on each side.

RE: Random Hose
I am very interested in that also! I am trying to remove this canister from 87 cane and it s not so easy...
There is all thoses tubes on the front of the engine that are going to the head gasket and I think ( watching the repair manual) that they are not in the standard cane...
Just closing them or ???
and all the tubes are you going straigh from the tnak to the carb ?
or do I have to get the carb holes closed as well ??
If anybody made it before it would be nice to have a feedback
thanks!

RE: Random Hose
start the bike and see if there is a vacum comming from the hoses. if so, block it off.
the carbs will have some vent lines, between the bodies towards the top, do not block those off.
my bike didn't have the emissions stuff, so i dont know much about the system. on the front of the engine, you could tap the ports and put a bolt in them?
