Exclamation A question...

I just went and looked at a '89 CBR600F and it ran like a striped ape, but one thing bothers me and I wanted to get your oprinion on this...the header for cylinder #3 (i assume it's 3, it's the 3rd from the left if you are sitting on the bike) is bent pretty bad, like someone hit a curb or something, is this gonna hurt the motor? More backpressure in one cylinder can't be good...also the front fairing is cracked right above the right hand mirror and the right side seat fairing is broke (he has an extra but it's not painted), he wants 1200...does that sound like a reasonable offer? (oh has 25614 miles also)
Thanks in advance for any help or opinions

Replace the header if it's badly bent - it'll reduce exhaust flow.
Can't comment on price................
Sounds like the bike went down quite hard...........
Get a mechanic to look her over before making a decision.

Same as bikebandit, the header isn't listed as a part...the bike ran great..I may just try to talk him down to 1k and fix the fairings myself, or wait and buy new ones later...

if nothing else if I have to I'll take it to work and see if they can cut the bent part out and weld a new piece in..

my header was dented on the bottom from curb jumping. i welded studs to the dents, used a torch to heat the metal, and pulled them out with a slide hammer.
fairings and parts can be hard to find. sometimes they show up in the classifieds here, or keep an eye on ebay.

never thought of that, that's a pretty unique fix, thanks much tripicana...well for the right rear fairing, I have the original and a new primered piece, the problem with the original is that the mounting spots (front and back) are both broke, it's fixable I'm sure, just not sure how to do that, and I have no idea where to go to get the primered one painted (i have the red white and blue model..or were they all red white and blue?)...the one that bothers me is the front fairing, found one on ebay for 165, I may just plan on buying it and adding it to the price of the bike...thanks so much for all the replies!

after looking at more pictures of 89 CBR600F's i think it's also missing the lower front fairings..the vented ones are there, but not the lowers..unless it was on the shelf with the rest of the fairings, he pulled a few down to show me......I guess if nothing else i could just go semi-naked...anyone have some good pictures of a semi-naked or naked or street fighter 600f? Thanks as always!

I have seen quite a few stock headers on Ebay going for cheap prices. Aside from being a little rusty, (big deal) they looked pretty good to me.
