pain switching to reserve?

Is the arrow to the front or back in the horizontal position? The **** fits over a square block and it is possible to have the arrow pointing the wrong direction. The valve itself is also marked. There is a rounded corner on the **** and valve and when properly aligned should have the arrow on the **** pointing toward the rear of the bike in the off position. The direction of movement should be clockwise to change from on to reserve.

I've had three fuel valves fail... but they usually just leak. The one in the pics is a leaker.
Replace it and no more leak. As you can see from the pics there is an in tank filter which should prevent anything from ever getting to the inline filter. If the first filter is plugged then you must have a lot of crap in the tank...rust or dirty gas. If the inline filter has crap in it then the seals from the valve or the fuel line itself could be breaking down.

thats exactly the way mine is, i dont think its leaking as if i turn my valve to off, fuel stops, just cant figure why it can run itself dry
so if the filter hose is missing? (inside the tank) would be the cause?
like with mine, by the time it was stumbling (when id normally go to reserve) it was already too late, when it died out, i shook the bike, no noise from the tank at all.
