I had a left side maintenance cover come off once. It hit the road and immediately got crushed by an eighteen wheeler so the was no recovering it. I ended up pulling the lowers and riding "naked" for a few years.
The benefit was the bike ran cooler, especially around town.

Default Repair Lower Cowling Idea

If you get a plastic welder, you can fix the plastics. Its not going to happen over night and will take some work. But it will be worth it. I would hate to see you just say the heck with the bike over one of the plastics. These bikes are one of a kind. I don't think street fighters does them justice but take away from the history and real tradition and value of the bike. Ebay has the plastics all the time.
