Default new rear shock?

Hi all.
Is there a new rear shock, maybe from another bike that fits these models or is it a case of having the old one rebuild?

Cheers

I seem to recall people retrofitting the f4/f4i shock onto the f1, but I think it needed dogbones. I dunno if searching thru the archives will yield anything

Who knows... could work. Either you gotta trim the frame down or add a collar, as it is highly unlikely it is a 'perfect fit'. Not to mention difference in ride height etc... But why look at a 24 year old shock? If you are going to put the effort into modifying the bike, may as well do it to something more modern.

Or just get a rebuild on the hurricane one :P

I wish, the rear shocks for our CBRs are sealed units. there is no way to rebuild them. So you are left either finding a low mileage F1 shock and hope it's in better condition than your own. You can look-up that f4i rear shock idea. Or I know there is an aftermarket alternative with the fox twin clicker. I am running one and I know a few others on here are too. If you can find one for under $200 swoop on it. these shocks are going for anywhere from $400-$500 on ebay for a heavily used (probably needs a rebuild) unit.

i got mine for $80 a few years ago, so i guess i was lucky

Ive always like the tdm so i thought sod it its time to get one, i might end up with a newer 900 model one yet though.

I've also come to the decision to keep the cbr as well as i've sold bikes before and then regretted it later and the old 1989 cbr's are starting to become a classic

I already have a honda cbr600, kwaka er5 and an aprilia af1 replica so i thought why not just save up and add another bike to the garage
