New to this please help! No spark to plugs
I just bought an 1987 cbr 600 and i'm having problems with it firing. Their is no spark at on going to the plugs. I don't know the first think about it but i have checked my fuse and they are all good. Should the pick up coils have a hot wire going to them when you turn the key on? I was told maybe it was the ignition module? Can you all help me out with my first bike? Thanks

Not sure if this engine has points, cause I'm new to it too.
But on my older Honda engine, there were ignition points that spun with the bottom shaft of the engine. They contacted brushes which would send the ignition signal to the spark plugs. I had to clean the contact points between the points and brushes so that they made good contact. It's easy to do. Just remove the round cover on the side of the engine circled in red and use a clean dollar bill to rub (floss) the contact surface area of the metal contacts. ** the pic below is just for reference, not sure which side the points are on, I just guessed this side because it's the same side as the starter, and tranny is on the opposite side, but I could be wrong ** Attachment 86058 |

It turned out to be the neutral switch. The neutral switch light worked so i thought it was all good but i was wrong. Thanks!!
