new plastic from 96 cbr for 89 cbr will it fit
ok my buddy gave me the plastic off of his 96 cbr 600 an mine is a 89 i set the plastic up to bike an seen that some of the mounts dont line up 100 but can i get it on the bike or is that prob not going to happen i mean if need be i can change a few of mounts but will i need to get new seat new tank ect...
Yes you can get the 96 fairings to fit your 89 but it is more complicated than changing a few mounting points. It will require fabrication, sub-frame modification and a 96 front fairing mount.
The tail angle on the 96 is at a higher angle than the 89 so you will need to fab some to get that to fit right. The front fairing mount is different. Not sure if the 96 mount will bolt up and be in the right position or not. On the RR fairings I did, I had to make some brackets to get the fairing mount in the right position.
The one thing that will not fit quite right is the 96 fairing curves at the tank and the 89 is straight. I have seen these fairings on a F1 and they look okay. It takes some time to do the fitment and get everything lined up properly. You will need a 96 seat which will fit the tank okay.
Here is my thread for conversion of an 87 F1 to 2003-04 CBR600RR fairings. You will need to do most of the same work to get the 96 fairings to fit. You will see that I had to mod the sub-frame quite a bit. There are also a lot of parts that you don't take into account when you start. I got the fairings for $300 and spent another $500 on additional parts...
Good Luck!
