New to me - 1987 CBR600f Hurricane project. Is this carb kit okay?

Just bought a CBR600f1Hurricane for $450 with some new/newish parts on it. I got lucky as it has all the plastics in good shape (albeit custom painted purple and plastidipped black) and has a good chain/sprockets/new fuel pump, new grips, etc. and a service manual! The guy I got it from had it as a project. He had it idling on the original carb assy, but said he had diaphragm issues so he ordered a new assy and transferred over all of the internals (jets, gaskets, etc.) He said he couldn't get it to idle with the new carbs, but after I got it home I got it to fire up in about 10 seconds and idle. When cold I could rev it. Once it warmed up a tad any revs killed the bike (obviously a carb issue.)

With that said, I've cleaned the carbs, needles, etc. and will be assembling it shortly. The jets were hella clogged to the point where compressed air and carb cleaner wouldn't clear some of them . . . had to use some copper wire on a few. There was some weird sludge in the bowl of some of the carbs that was real nasty (ethanol sludge?) All of the internals look good enough to use with the exception of the gaskets, but they aren't in the best of shape so I definitely want to replace it all.

Is this a good enough kit? I understand it is SPECIFICALLY for this bike, but some people recommend against using rando kits.

I'm familiar with rebuilding/cleaning carbs and syncing them so everything should be mostly a cakewalk for me. I'm actually hella surprised at how easy it is to access things like the throttle cables and intake boots compared to my other bikes (ex500 and sv650.)

Parts Unlimited is a good company. They are Drag Specialties in the Harley market and have been around for years. Their house brands are decent quality and you shouldn't have any issues.

Good luck with the bike. I have a similar project and am having no luck getting it to run off idle but then again, Harleys have one carb with fewer adjustments. :-)

I actually got the bike to run last night! It starts easily, idles, and revs just fine. Under high rpm (8000-9000?) it backfires occasionally some and shoots smoke out of the exhaust. I only spent a few minutes and made a few minor float height adjustments so I'm sure I'm running rich to some degree. I'll try to get a video of it in a bit when my gf gets home. I haven't test ridden it, but the clutch tries to pull in first gear. There was some ticking in the front which resolved itself after one good rev lol. It also had a fuel leak which the previous owner thought was the fuel T between the carbs, but it really was the fuel hose because it was kinked where it bent 90 degrees to meet the T.

I am in need of cleaning the carbs on my 1991 CBR1000F. Did you have to get any gaskets or anything? if you did where did you source them?

OK, that's pretty funny. Instead of just having a picture of the part, they show the two cute girls in tank tops who will walk out to the warehouse, get your kit, and then bring it back into the office to fill your order. I don't remember the warehouse I worked in being nearly that interesting.
