Default looking at an 87 hurrican street fighter

Hi guys,

This is my first post. I was looking for some expert opinions on the 87 hurricane. My past bikes include an 80 cb 750, 85 interceptor 700, 85 v65 sabre and I currently have an 89 KLR650. I'm looking to get back to a streetbike and this guy has proposed a trade straight up for my KLR. The cbr has 43K+ on it and here is his description plus a couple of pics:

It has been nicely converted
into a naked bike (it's not some ratty streetfighter,
it really resembles a Hawk GT). It has:

round headlight w/ a small tinted windscreen
superbike bars
Kerker muffler
Kawasaki ZX7 guage pod w/ Honda guages
opened airbox w/ K&N filter
jet kit
Brand new fork seals and oil
Racetech .95 springs and Cartridge Emulators
98 CBR600F3 rear shock
Factory Pro Ignition Advancer
Manual Cam Chain Tensioner
Motrax Bar End Mirrors
SS Brake Lines
new clutch & choke cables
polished rim lips
Avon tires w/ PLENTY of tread
a whole box of extras including a tank bra, 2 sets of
carbs, assorted pegs/rearsets, a brand new set of EBC
HH pads

Here are some pics of the Hurricane BEFORE the
windscreen and mirrors were added. It's amazing how
much better it looks with them. The windscreen covers
up the back of the guages and really makes it look
finished.

Let me know what you guys think

Edit: The pics with the screen and mirrors should be up now too.

Thanks

My F1 is very close to the one you are looking at.

It looks like the guy did a real good job of putting the bike together, it looks clean and the paint looks nice and fresh also!

The bike does have a lot miles on her 43,000 is pretty high for a 20 year old short stroke motor without a rebuild.

It really depends on how much you have in the KLR.

Good luck!

Wow,

Looks very clean. It reminds me very much of my father's "naked" hurricane, which I will post pictures of when we clean it up more. We will be repainting the bike and returning the chassis to original specs.

One concern I do have with your bike, is the fact that the forks were dropped to accomodate the MX style handlebars. With the chassis geometry now altered, your motorcycle will not handle the same as it was made. I have the stock settings on my Hurricane, but my father's Hurricane was lowered and his handles so poorly. The rear shock was lowered only 2 inches, but the handling of the motorcycle became night (his) and day (mine). Hopefully you will not experience any handling woes, or at least take it safe.

Really cool bike though!

I took it for a pretty good test ride and it seemed to handle fine. Of course, this being my first cbr, I have nothing to compare it too.
